The Opportunity
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance program in a USDA and FDA regulated food and dietary supplement manufacturing facility. This role involves supervising the QA team, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and implementing quality control processes to maintain the highest standards of product quality and safety. The QA Supervisor will work closely with the QCA, GM, Production Manager, and quality control team to ensure all products meet USDA, FDA, GMP, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements.

- Team Supervision: Lead, train, and mentor the QA team, ensuring they follow proper inspection, testing, and documentation procedures.
- Quality Control Oversight: Oversee the daily quality control activities, including inspections, raw material and finished product testing, and in-process checks. Ensure adherence to quality standards across all product lines.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, GMP, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements by conducting routine audits, inspections, and training for the production and quality teams.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with GM and QCA to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and optimize the efficiency of quality control processes.
- Audit and Inspection Preparation: With guidance and oversight from QCA, manage internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. Ensure that all documentation, records, and corrective actions are up-to-date and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Documentation and Reporting: With guidance and oversight from QCA, manage the preparation and review of batch records, certificates of analysis, non-conformance reports, and other quality-related documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA): With guidance and oversight from QCA, lead investigations into quality issues, non-conformance, and deviations. Coordinate and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in a timely and effective manner.
- Product Safety and Quality Standards: Ensure that all products are manufactured in accordance with company and industry safety and quality standards. Proactively report and address any product safety issues or hazards with GM and department managers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the GM, Production Manager, and QCA to resolve quality-related issues, optimize processes, and ensure the timely release of products.
- Training and Development: With guidance and oversight from QCA, provide training to new and existing QA staff on quality standards, regulatory requirements, testing procedures, and safety protocols.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Work with QCA to analyze quality data and performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement. Report findings to GM and recommend actions.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for hiring and supervising a small team of technicians.

Required Education and Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control in a USDA or FDA-regulated food or supplement manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of USDA, FDA, GMP, HACCP, and other food and supplement industry regulatory standards
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The employee is primarily working in a warehouse and manufacturing environment, between 0 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit. They will work in a food or supplement manufacturing environment that includes exposure to varying temperatures, machinery, and noise levels. The noise level in the warehouse can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Work may be performed under hazardous conditions such as operating heavy equipment. Required to wear all issued safety gear and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires lifting heavy objects, walking, sitting and standing for long periods of time. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively bends, crouches, twists, sprints or throws objects. The employee must climb and maintain body balance. Frequently lifts items up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position during regular business hours. Hours will vary based on training, coverage, and production schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position does not require travel.
