Salary Range: $110,000 to $120,0000 per year

Wild Pastures is on a mission to transform the meat industry. We deliver 100% grass fed, pasture-raised, environmentally-regenerative beef, chicken and pork and sustainably caught, wild seafood directly to our customers’ doors. We have incredibly high standards for our meat – all being raised in the USA by small-scale family farmers on lush pastures free from human-caused chemicals.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Quality Management to lead our company’s quality assurance and control efforts across multiple sites, including warehouses and manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have an experienced background in quality management, cross-department communication, process improvement, and regulatory compliance within the USDA/FSIS meat and poultry and FDA spice, seafood, food, supplements, and other consumer packaged goods.
Essential Functions

Quality Assurance and Control:
- Continue to develop and maintain current quality assurance programs to ensure products meet company and regulatory standards.
- Oversee vendor qualifications, facility inspection, material testing to maintain quality and safety compliance.
- Identify key performance indicators and propose areas for continuous improvement in the quality control and regulatory process. Implement and maintain improvements as needed.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, including State Health Department, FDA, USDA, and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and support necessary adjustments to quality programs.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections and certifications, addressing any findings and implementing corrective actions.
- Support substantiation efforts for label claims, website claims and other brand promises.
Quality Management Systems:
- Improve and maintain quality management systems, documentation, and procedures to ensure compliance to specific industry requirements.
- Monitor key quality metrics, report trends, and communicate findings to senior management.
- Support internal and external audits, review reports, and ensure significant vulnerabilities are minimized.
Continuous Improvement:
- Help with continuous improvement initiatives to ensure quality and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements that reduce complaints, defects, waste, and costs.
- Promote Lean, Six Sigma, or other similar quality improvement methodologies.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of quality management professionals, including quality assurance technicians and quality control inspectors.
- Provide training on quality standards, company policies, and procedures to employees across various departments.
- Foster a culture of quality and safety throughout the organization.
Vendor and Supplier Quality Management:
- Work with Purchasing to ensure suppliers meet the quality of raw materials, components, packaging, and other materials meet regulations and internal standards.
- Coordinate supplier audits and vetting and collaborate corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
- Establish quality agreements with vendors and monitor their adherence to quality standards and commitments.
Customer Satisfaction and Complaint Resolution:
- Monitor customer feedback and quality-related complaints, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
- Work with customer service teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Track quality-related metrics such as customer complaints, product returns, and defect rates.
Budget Management:
- Manage the quality department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Allocate budget for quality-related projects, laboratory testing, and training programs.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for supervising a team of remote quality management professionals.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Quality Management, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- 7+ years of experience in quality management, with a focus on meat, poultry, food, supplements, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA, OSHA) and quality management systems (GMP, HARPC, HACCP, etc.).
- Willingness to travel to internal and external facilities throughout the year to conduct audits.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Advanced degree or third party certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates primarily in a clerical, home office setting with occasional work in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. When in the warehouse, the employee will be in a setting between 0 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The noise level in the warehouse can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position during regular business hours in the employee’s time zone. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.
